Kitesurfing pioneers: the story of Don Montague

Don Montague is a Canadian watersports inventor and designer. He was at the heart of the kiteboarding revolution and, today, continues to innovate with his kiteboat experimentations.

“I am originally from Vancouver, on the West Coast of Canada. I have always been attracted to the sea. When I was very young, I enjoyed manufacturing sails for my skateboard and was even featured in our local newspaper for it.

My parents had a sailboat and a canoe, and before even knowing that windsurfing existed, by the age of eleven, I had tinkered a plastic sail to the canoe and started sailing.
